Why some people stay unemployed...

I've heard the horror stories and the tales of distaste from candidates all around how recruiters are pesks and don't know what they are doing. (ie. contacting a javascript developer for a java position 50 miles away). That's why it's important to know who you are working with. Recruiters can be a valuable resource free of charge! The good ones will screen you, let you know what positions match your background and career fit, and get you the best possible chance of getting in front of a hiring manager. True story.

So it irks me when candidates treat recruiters with no respect. Why would I put my reputation with my client on the line for you when you won't give me the time of day?

Real life response from a currently unemployed candidate who applied to one of my open positions:

"I will go through a phone with your client only. My resume stands on its own. The process that the client puts me through is time consuming enough. If you do not want to submit me, that's fine. I will speak no more on this subject." -AKM

Rude! Good luck with that one buddy, the IT community in Atlanta is small and word gets around. No one wants that ego no matter how well your resume "speaks".
